NOTES FROM THE DISCUSSION

Incentives:
- get data out of the system
- older doctors & typing--> major challenge using technology
- reputation system particularly attractive to physicians
- focus on new students as the target pop
- capturing a whole story (Linda)
- jargon trasnlation; narrative amiddle ground--> from the patient
perspective
- connect to NEJM/other journals
- talk to Sermo; expand on what they already do?

Patient Contributed
- only allow physicians to comment
- have patients "nominate" their case & give MD contact info
- have doctor scorecards (rate your MD)
- have people rate the usefulness of the case report (NETFLIX)
- have premium features for those who submit a minimum # cases
- have people vote on the topic that they are most interested in
(where is the need?)
- the advantages of aggregate data: give physicians perspective
(researchers?)

From the Pt. Point of View
- wouldn't want to be able to be picked out in her community
- ability to retract permission; result in retraction of case
- look for the most underserved community/area
- connect patient to one another; more than just info on disease/tx;
info on how patients cope with their symptoms or disease or tx--> have
a message inbox?
- patients identify not by disease but by symptoms; MDs can use for
study recruitment

Overall Recommendations
- start with what we know we can do; work on the first 20% rather than
100%
