Abstract: No thermal anomalies were detected in the heat capacities of MoCl3 and MoCl4 determined by adiabatic calorimetry from 5 to 350 K. The heat capacity Cp(298.15 K), entropy {So(298.15 K) - So(0)}, and the function {Go(298.15 K) - Ho(0)}/298.15 K are (for MoCl3) 22.66, 28.24, and -13.85; and (for MoCl4) 28.28, 37.58, and -18.62 calth K-1 mol-1. The Gibbs energies of formation for these compounds at 298.15 K are -111.4 and -137.2 kcalth mol-1, respectively.
