Estimates for [alpha]-transfer strengths based on the pseudo SU(3) model are tested. [alpha]-cluster functions are showm to have large overlaps with pseudo SU(3) representations of highest symmetry. Pseudo SU(3) estimates are compared with f5/2P3/2P1/2 shell model predictions for [alpha]-transfers from Ni to Zn isotopes.en_US
