A mathematical frame has been established to generally formulate the correlating properties of peptides. The formulation can be used to study the specificity of multisite enzymes, particularly in predicting the susceptible sites in proteins by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) proteases, and hence can serve as a supplementary means in designing HIV protease inhibitors as potential drugs against acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.en_US
