Abstract: A transtubular mammalian cell perfusion chamber has been developed that allows separate delivery and control of medium and gas flow to the cells. The hydrodynamic and mass transfer characteristics of the reactor are studied experimentally for both gas and liquid components. Feasibility and potential of the transtubular reactor are demonstrated by the growth of a hybridoma cell line.
