Both grasses share certain habitats in the Great Lakes region, but here also are clues to why their overall distributions diverge. Spotting variations in site preference within their overlapping ranges provides crucial information about their locally and regionally varied habitats and associate species. By patching together this mosaic of information, I hope to help clarify which biotic or abiotic factors influence the propagation of Schizachne and Festuca.en_US
