A survey of phytoplankton communities in ten northern Michigan lakes.

Abstract

Five chemical parameters were measured and a phytoplankton sample were taken from ten northern Michigan lakes. The phytoplankton samples were permanently mounted on slides for a collection, and analyzed to determine the general community of each site. The phytoplankton communities were then compared to see if there are similarities or differences based on the five chemical parameters measured. Since the sites chosen varied little from each other chemically, similar phytoplankton communities were identified.
