Abstract: We will develop and prototype an automotive driver seat concept that meets structural requirements, has as many recyclable components as possible, maximizes the use of renewable resources, and has a design aesthetic that conveys an environmental story. The structural requirements will be simplified to a forward, rearward, cushion, and two seatbelt anchor loads. The intent of the environmental focus is to find novel approaches to practical seat recycling. One of the goals is to define what an environmentally friendly product means to our market, which is young adults. The design aesthetic will convey the environmental message with style and quality that the consumer will desire. Our main goal is the successful the integration of the environmental, structural, and design aesthetic requirements.
