Trapped in the Forest
Hartrick, James
2008
Abstract: I feel like a stranger in my own home state. In four weeks I have visited a new Michigan. I have assessed sand dune succession, walked to an island and visited the childhood summer home of a famous author. The Michigan that I know is paved with concrete and suffers from an acute lack of wind. Summers are sweaty and winters are harsh. There is no forest to buffer the temperature of the urban landscape that constructs my one, true Michigan.
