Abstract: Kate Waggoner interviews Sally Shumway regarding her experiences as University of Michigan engineering student during and shortly after World War II. Sally (Farquhar) Shumway earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 1947 and an M.B.A. in 1974. She worked at King-Seeley and Fram Corporation, as an engineering consultant in Washington D.C., and as a supervisor in the Emissions Test Laboratory at Ford Motor Company. While working full time, Sally raised her four children as a single parent.
