In 1965, the University of Michigan, Department of Forestry, published a report documenting Saginaw Forest, entitled "A Guide to Saginaw Forest (1961)". The report listed information about specific lots within the forest including planting data, notes about damage from insects, weather, or fire, the number of trees of each species, their basal area, height, diameter at breast height, and some data related to thinning or harvesting that was conducted before 1961. This article contains planting notes for the forest. It lists the defining species for each lot, other species found in each, and the year that they were planted. Fuller documentation for each lot can be found in "A Guide to Saginaw Forest (1961)."
