In 1965, the University of Michigan, Department of Forestry, published a report documenting Stinchfield Woods, including the Newcomb Tract entitled "A Guide to Stinchfield Woods (1965)". The report listed information about specific lots within the forest including planting data, notes about damage from insects, weather, or fire, the number of trees of each species, their basal area, height, diameter at breast height, and some data related to thinning or harvesting that was conducted before 1965. This article contains planting notes Stinchfield Woods. It lists the defining species for each lot, other species found in each, and the year that they were planted.
