Description: A Byzantine screen post decorated with a spiral-fluted colonette and a fragment of a screen panel were found built into the walls of a village house together with three Ottoman-era tombstones, one of which carries the date 1833. Unusually for the region, the screen panel is of a pale yellow limestone. Carved in raised flat relief, the panel is inscribed with a rotated square frame, at the center of which is an eight-petaled rosette with pointed ends. Only one corner of the panel is extant and is filled with a swirl motif. This type of concentric geometric framing is one of the most common patterns seen on screen and epistyle decoration in the Middle Byzantine period.en_US
