Description: This isolated watchtower, approximately 7-8m along a side, stands at the center of an enclosure approximately 45-50m square, in the northern slopes of Avdan Dağı high above the eastern side of the pass between the Morsynus valley and the plateau to the southwest. The location provides an excellent view out over the western part of the plateau. It is one of two towers of similar construction in the area, and is located at a high point along a wide ridge above the modern village of Ören. It is built from large worked coursed marble blocks; many of the joints between the blocks are not vertical, and the blocks may be all trapezoidal. At least two of the tower corners have drafted corners. ** Only a very small number of sherds were found at the site. Comparable construction details and the pottery from the similar tower lower down the ridge suggest primarily a pre-Hellenistic or generally early occupation.
Finds: Non-intensive pottery collection conducted 20 June 2006
