Description: Immediately outside and slightly south of the Southeast Gate are three standing architectural elements that could indicate the presence of a church in this area. No traces of walls are visible, but the locations of the three known extramural churches argue in favor of this interpretation, as do the high concentration of Christian inscriptions and graffiti on the City Wall to both the north and south of the gate. ** The second element, located About 5.2 m due south of the first, is a standing, white marble, spiral-fluted column. Two cuttings in the side of the column, about 0.70 m apart, indicate a later adaptation for the attachment of metal elements.en_US
