Description: Local Name: Işıklar Local Information: Işıklar Necropolis Latitude: 37.43.43.08 Longitude: 28.43.28.62 Elevation: 573m Axis: 282 degrees Dimensions: See Drawing Description: Rock-cut gallery tomb with vaulted masonry dromos. Large tomb with multiple chambers with worked stone slabs lying on floor. Some interior areas rock -cut; others built from cut stones. ** Dromos (W: 1.14 -1.17m) part built and part rock cut; ramped vault, but walls have horizontal coursing (blocks: H: 0.10-0.19m, W: 0.15-0.50m, D: 0.16-0.30m); blocks mostly split, some with point chisel surface on outer faces; thick mortar beds, no pointing visible in most areas, though some preserved, angled indentation, especially visible low down on west end of north wall, so probably just all worn away; part of dromos floor is cut schist, not flat. ** Antechamber: irregular trapezoid in plan, dromos door (W: 1.20m) is opposite main door (W: 1.30m), and two side doors (north W: 1.24m; south W: 0.86m); all four with vaults above; antechamber roofed with a kind of irregular conical vault that incorporates airshaft that opens above vault over doorway from dromos; springing of vaults set on wide thin slabs (Th: 0.09m); initial side chambers all shallow, rock cut ** Entrances to other chambers all partly built, but hard to determine how much is original construction, how much collapse and how much was caused by looting. ** Galleries: Piers to main gallery are bonded with the corners; most of south wall of main gallery is built, but none of vault. Northern side gallery, west wall is built, as are vault and piers leading into tertiary gallery; big built arch (arch D: 1.48m, W: 1.90m measured above step back atop jambs), the only one other than the ones in the antechamber.
