Description: Local Name: Aphrodisias, West Necropolis Local Information: Field 46, Low grass and olive trees Latitude: 37.42.36.9 Longitude: 28.42.59.7 Elevation: 518m Axis: N Dimensions: L: 6.10m, L: 3.85m, pres H: 1.9m ** Doorway: W: 0.66m, D: 0.66m Description: The north wall of this tomb is approximately even with that of D008, as though they fronted on the same line. The extrados of the barrel vaulted chamber (L: 6.10 m, W: 3.85 m) is now at field level. The interior is cleared to within 1.90 m below the ceiling. The entrance door centered in the north wall (W: 0.66 m, D: 0.66m), has a massive lintel, and petit appareil jambs. The construction of the walls and vault are similar, of roughly coursed masonry with many leveling shims in between. The mortar beds are shallow and not scored. The stones in the vault are entirely split, and include much schist. Some of the superstructure may be visible to the north, and a marble bench block (H: 0.49 m, D: 0.67 m) sits atop the northern part of the vault.
