DIKOBRAZ -- 27 AUGUST 1968
On the right, people watch "The Ship of Friendship." On the left, an
editorial reflects the confused but hopeful situation a week after
the invasion: "As you can see, friends, things didn't get so bad
that another issue of Dikobraz couldn't be published." The writer
says that, although the humor magazine enjoyed making fun of the
Czech national character in the past, now the Czechs cut a proud
figure to the world. He continues: "No, we haven't won yet. How
glad we would be to put a picture of a smiling Dubcek on our cover
[...]. And nobody knows how many more bitter pills our 'friends' in
the Kremlin, those self-proclaimed doctors who want to cure our
socialism, have for us. [...] We just don't know how to stop
laughing, even when tears of pain press into our eyes."
