THE TRUTH for Soviet Soldiers.

A flyer of the Czechoslovak resistance to the invasion, written in Russian, includes "The Letter of a Mother to the President of the Republic [i.e., President Svoboda]":

. . . As the mother of three sons, I pity those Soviet boys who don't even know what country they're in, and I condemn the cold-blooded undertaking of the leadership of all the occupying armies, who have summoned these boys here to kill, rob, and take away our freedom and peace. The defenders of this shameful act have shamed the honor and memory of Yuri Gagarin, who made the name of Soviet man famous throughout the whole world. But no planet is as high as our nation's contempt and scorn, and that of the whole world, are deep. In the future not one government will admire Soviet achievements, no matter what they might be. . . .
