Lida Technoskepticism Promo Captioned === Lida Zeitlin-Wu: [00:00:00] Hi, I'm Lida Zeitlin Wu. So I think we're all very familiar with wellness discourse. The idea that wellness has become this multibillion dollar industry. But so many of the forms that wellness takes today are digital. Every week, it seems like there's a new self tracking app that focuses on meditation, sleep, task management, exercise. What we're seeing is a kind of ripple effect of Silicon Valley productivity into all of these aspects of our lives. Mainstream ideas of wellness often feed into a particularly white, able bodied user position that the authors of this book mostly don't fall into. We need a kind of wisdom to vet what might be healthy or well for some of us, but maybe not for others. So to be well in ways that skirt this wellness industrial complex is to recognize that we're all unwell in different ways. Instead of how do we become well, how do we become wise?
