- Description:
- In the recent geological past, Earth’s magnetic field reduced to 4% of the modern values and the magnetic poles moved severely apart from the geographic poles causing the Laschamps geomagnetic excursion, which happened about 41 millennia ago. The excursion lasted for about two millennia, with the peak strength reduction and dipole tilting lasting for a shorter period of 300 years. During this period, the geomagnetic field exhibited significant differences from the modern nearly-aligned dipolar field, causing non-dipole variables to mimic a magnetic field akin to the outer planets while displaying a significantly reduced magnetic strength. However, the precise magnetospheric configuration and their electrodynamic coupling with the atmosphere have remained critically understudied. This dataset contains the first space plasma investigation of the exact geomagnetic conditions in the near-Earth space environment during the excursion. The study contains a full 3D reconstruction and analysis of the geospace system including the intrinsic geomagnetic field, magnetospheric system and the upper atmosphere, linked in sequence using feedback channels for distinct temporal epochs. The reconstruction was conducted using the LSMOD.2 model, Block Adaptive Tree Solar wind-Roe-Upwind Scheme (BATS-R-US) Model and the MAGnetosphere-Ionosphere-Thermosphere (MAGNIT) Auroral Precipitation Model, all of which are publicly-available models. The dataset contains the raw data from each of these models, in addition to the images/post-processing results generated using these models. Paleomagnetic data produced by LSMOD.2 can be visualized using a combination of linear plotting and contour plotting tools available commonly in visualization software like Python (e.g. Python/Matplotlib) or MATLAB. Standard tools to read and visualize BATS-R-US and MAGNIT output are already publicly available using IDL and Python (see SpacePy/PyBats - https://spacepy.github.io/pybats.html). For information and details about the post-processed data, visualization and analysis, please contact the authors for details. The anthropological dataset can be visualized using a shape file reader (e.g. Python/GeoPandas) and a linear plotting tool (e.g. Python/Matplotlib).

- Description:
- The 3D GRE MRI data for murine model of myelofbifrosis with expert segmentations of mouse tibia was used to train Attention UNET model to automate bone marrow segmentation for measurements of imaging biomarkers. This dataset consists of three archives: (1) containing the source MRI images in Meta-image-header (MHD) format with resulting segmentation labels by two experts and four UNET models with different training scenarios; (2) corresponding training models; and (3) deep-learning (DL)-based segmentation tools for application to future murine tibia MRI data. and The MHD images are an ITK compatible format that can be viewed in standard image viewer, like 3D Slicer. The image archive is structured with a directory tree that contains \"mouseID"\"scan-date"\"segmentaion-scenario"\. The "training model" archive containes DL-model labeled by the data subset, and "deployment" archive containes the DL-segmentation software.

- Description:
- As part of a project to develop side impact test procedures for evaluating wheelchairs, wheelchair tiedowns and occupant restraint systems (WTORS), and vehicle-based occupant protection systems for wheelchair seating stations, we created validated finite element (FE) models to support procedure development. Models were constructed using LS-DYNA. Dynamic sled tests were performed to validate the FE models of surrogate fixtures and commercial hardware. Validated FE models were developed for the Surrogate wheelchair base (SWCB), Surrogate wheelchair for side impact (SWCSI), a manual wheelchair (Ki Mobility Catalyst 5), and a power wheelchair (Quantum Rehab Edge 2.0). Additional FE models of a heavy-duty anchor meeting the Universal Docking Interface Geometry (UDIG), surrogate four-point strap tiedowns (SWTORS), a traditional docking station, and the surrogate wall fixture were also developed.

- Description:
- Inland lakes play a critical role in ecosystem stability, and robust validation of lake models is essential for understanding their dynamics. While remote sensing data can assist with lake surface temperature validation, in situ data typically provides more accurate, reliable data not limited to only the lake surface. However, in situ temperature data for many individual lakes, particularly in North America, is difficult for researchers to quickly access in a standardized format. This database offers a well-organized collection of in situ near-surface and subsurface temperatures from 134 sites divided among 29 large North American inland lakes collected from a variety of sources. The database includes multiple subsurface temperatures throughout the depth profile of 84 of these sites, providing comprehensive data for lake model evaluation. All lakes selected for this database are large enough (over approximately 30 km^2 to be represented by large-scale operational weather models, supporting robust lake model validation efforts on the lakes that have the greatest impact on climatology.

- Description:
- We conducted a mixed-methods study to understand how financial incentive programs impact transitions to cover cropping in Michigan. Michigan farms span a wide range of soil types, climate conditions, and cropping systems that create opportunities for cover crop adoption in the state. We tested the relationship between Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) payments for cover crops and cover crop adoption between 2008-2019, as measured by remote sensing. Panel fixed effects regressions showed that EQIP increased winter cover crop presence. Every EQIP dollar for cover crops was associated with a 0.01 hectare increase in winter cover, while each hectare enrolled in an EQIP contract for cover crops was associated with a 0.86 – 0.93 hectare increase in winter cover.

- Description:
- Infant eating behavior is likely driven not only by hunger and satiety reflective of caloric need, but also by the reward value of food. The reward value of food can be understood in terms of wanting, liking, and salience. Little is understood about infant response to the reward value of food, or its predictors, particularly prenatally. This project sought to understand whether prenatal factors during pregnancy predict infant reward response to food, as measured by questionnaires in early infancy.

- Description:
- This data set includes text files (.csv files) for the bioinformatic annotation of SMR genes found in a dataset of phylogenetically diverse bacterial genomes. Bioinformatic analysis includes genome mining to identify SMR genes, prediction of the functional transporter subtype, and prediction of the direction of insertion in the bacterial membrane. Research overview: This bioinformatic dataset was prepared for a review on the structures, functions, and occurrence of Small Multidrug Resistance (SMR) Transporters. This dataset includes bioinformatic annotation of SMR genes identified in bacterial genomes from the Joint Genome Institute’s curated set of ~1000 Genomic Encyclopedia of Bacteria and Archaea (GEBA) genomes. The file GEBA_SMR_annotation.csv provides NCBI identification information (genome, species and chromosome information, locus tag, translation) and bioinformatic predictions of the SMR subtype and membrane insertion direction for each gene identified in the GEBA genome set. The file GEBA_SMR_species_table.csv has a separate entry for species in the GEBA genome set, along with the bioinformatic prediction of SMR subtype and membrane insertion direction for each SMR gene identified in the genome of that species. Dataset was generated by Christian B. Macdonald and Randy B. Stockbridge (Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, 48019) Generation of this dataset was supported by National Institutes of Health grants R35-GM128768 to Randy B. Stockbridge. Use and access: This dataset is provided as a .csv file (comma separated values) and can be read using any text editor or spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel.

- Description:
- The H2O concentration and H2O/Ce ratio in olivine-hosted melt inclusions are high (H2O up to 1410 ppm; H2O/Ce up to 77) in lunar sample 74220 but lower (H2O up to 430 ppm; H2O/Ce up to 9.4) in all other lunar samples studied before this work. This difference is absent for other volatiles (F, S, and Cl) in melt inclusions in 74220 and other lunar samples. Because H2O (or H) is a critical volatile component with significant ramifications on the origin and evolution of the Moon, it is important to understand what causes such a large gap in H2O/Ce ratio between 74220 and other lunar samples. Two explanations have been advanced. One is that volcanic product in sample 74220 has the highest cooling rate and thus best preserved H2O in melt inclusions compared to melt inclusions in other samples. The other explanation is that sample 74220 is a localized heterogeneity enriched in some volatiles. To distinguish the two possibilities, here we present new data from three rapidly cooled lunar samples: olivine-hosted glassy melt inclusions (OHMIs) in 74220 regolith and 79135 regolith breccia, and pyroxene-hosted glassy melt inclusions (PHMIs) in 15597 pigeonite basalts. If the gap is due to the difference in cooling rates, samples with cooling rates between 74220 and other studied lunar samples should have preserved intermediate H2O concentrations and H2O/Ce ratios. Our results show that melt inclusions in 79135 and 15597 contain high H2O concentrations (up to 969 ppm in 79135 and up to 793 ppm in 15597) and high H2O/Ce ratios (up to 21 in 79135 and up to 13 in 15997). Combined with literature data, we confirm that H2O/Ce ratios of different lunar samples are positively correlated to the cooling rates and independent of the type of mare basalts. Our work bridges the big gap in H2O/Ce ratio among 74220 and other lunar samples. We hence reinforce the interpretation that the lunar sample with the highest cooling rate best represents pre-eruptive volatiles in lunar basalts due to the least degassing. H2O, F, P, S and Cl concentrations in the lunar primitive mantle are also estimated in this work.

- This footage is an output of a USDOT-funded project titled "Development of Machine-Learning Models for Autonomous Vehicle Decisions on Weaving Sections of Freeway Ramps." It showcases an automated weaving maneuver within an augmented reality environment. During the demonstration, Mcity's automated vehicle navigates through a highway weaving section, making a lane change while interacting with a virtual vehicle. In this instance, Mcity's vehicle was operated by automated driving systems, which executed the lane change based on the detection for external environmental factors and parameter inputs received from the virtual vehicle.

- Description:
- Bursty bulk flows (BBFs) are identified as the fast earthward-propagating flows from magnetic reconnection in Earth's magnetotail. BBFs are related to particle energization process reported by satellite observations. For the first time, we use a novel numerical model that simulates kinetic physics directly in a global model. The energization of the electrons associated with BBF is demonstrated by the model. The electron velocity distribution functions (VDFs) extracted from multiple locations associated with BBF demonstrate good agreements with the observations. The energy-dependent electron pitch angle distribution at the leading part of the BBF can be explained by the enhancement of the local magnetic field.

- Description:
- This dataset is part of a collection created to facilitate research in the use of novel sensors for autonomous vehicle perception. , The dataset collection platform is a Ford Fusion vehicle with a roof-mounted novel sensing suite, which specifically consists of forward-facing stereo uncooled thermal cameras (FLIR 40640U050-6PAAX), event cameras (iniVation DVXplorer), monochrome cameras (FLIR BFS-PGE-16S2M), and RGB cameras (FLIR BFS-PGE-50S5C) time synchronized with ground truth poses from a high precision navigation system. , Further information and resources (such as software tools for converting, managing, and viewing data files) are available on the project website: https://umautobots.github.io/nsavp , and CHANGE NOTICE (January 2024): We identified an error in our timestamp post-processing procedure that caused all camera timestamps to be offset by the exposure time of one of the cameras. We corrected the error, applied the corrected post-processing, and reuploaded the corrected files. The change impacts all camera data files. Prior to the change, the timestamps between the cameras were synchronized with submillisecond accuracy, but the camera and ground truth pose timestamps were offset by up to 0.4 ms, 3 ms, and 15 ms in the afternoon, sunset, and night sequences, respectively. This amounted in up to ~0.25 meters of position error in the night sequences. For consistency, camera calibration was rerun with the corrected calibration sequence files. The camera calibration results have therefore been updated as well, although they have not changed significantly. Finally, we previously downsampled the frame data in the uploaded calibration seqeuence, but we decided to provide the full frame data in the reupload.
