Much of the work conducted by PASH took place on a geomorphic feature we call the Shtoj alluvial fan. Geological research was done along the distal margins of the Shtoj alluvial fan in the fringing freshwater wetlands of Shkodër Lake. Field reconnaissance in 2010 consisted of drilling twelve 5-cm diameter auger holes across the fan to a maximum depth of 4.8 m. A composite sediment sample was collected every 0.3 m during drilling. Munsell color, organic carbon (OC), and percent sand (% SD) were determined on all samples. Between 2012 and 2014, sediment cores were taken at four wetland locations on the southeastern shore of Shkodër Lake. North-south trending core locations were selected following results of samples collected during the 2010 reconnaissance and are 1 km east of the Shkodër Lake shoreline. Twenty-two cores, ranging in length from 0.24 m to 0.87 m, were taken from four sites using a 6.3-cm diameter polycarbonate piston corer. Cores were pushed or driven to total depth using a slide hammer. Analyses of all core samples included % SD, OC, magnetic susceptibility, and dry bulk density (ρbd). Insoluble residue, laser particle size, and x-ray diffraction analyses were done on selected intervals. Organic rich clays and peat were dated using 14C AMS spectroscopy.
Soviet military topographic maps (1:50,000) were used in the construction of fan profiles and determination of fan gradients. Watershed areas and divides were drawn using Advanced Space Borne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) and Global Digital Elevation Model (GDEM) version 2 digital elevation models (DEM) imported into ArcMap 10.3. Shapefiles for Albanian rivers, streams, and other bodies of water were also imported.

This collection includes all of the data from auger holes and cores drilled by PASH in the vicinity of Lake Shkodra. These data are stored as comma-separated text files (.CSV). They are organized into eight different worksheets, titled: 1) Auger Hole Summary; 2) Auger Hole Sample Data; 3) Core 4 Data; 4) Core 5 Data; 5) Core 6 Data; 6) Core 8 Data; 7) Core 9 Data; and 8) PASH geological data ALL (Excel).
Files:
- Auger_Hole_Summary.csv provides location information for each hole, in latitude-longitude coordinates, as well as the length of each extracted core, the number of samples taken along its length, and the depth at which the water table was reached.
- Auger_Hole_Sample_Data.csv provides raw analytical data for each auger hole, including sampling locations (cm below top of hole), Munsell determinations, % Co, Ci, and minus 230, % sand, and soil texture descriptions (e.g., clay, sand, silt).
- Core_[#]_Data.csv: Analytical data are provided for cores 4-6 and 8-9, including location information for each core, in latitude-longitude coordinates, sampling locations (cm below top of core), Munsell determinations, Magnetic Susceptibility (SI), Dry Bulk Density (g/cm3), and Organic Carbon (%).
- PASH_geological_data_ALL.xlsx is a multi-page compilation of all PASH geological data, including the results of all analyses. It was left in the original Excel file format.
