Title: Atmospheric CO2 time series derived from CESM NEP and GEOS-Chem pulse response CO2 Open Access Deposited

Methodology
  • Imprints of atmospheric CO2 from 22 terrestrial source regions were calculated at 41 points corresponding to the locations of NOAA CO2 observation sites(1) by convolving area-weighted monthly mean terrestrial net ecosystem productivity (NEP) from 3 CESM Extended Concentration Pathway (ECP) simulations(2) interpolated to a 1x1 degree grid with monthly atmospheric CO2 from simulations run using the GEOS-Chem model (version 9.1.2). Summing over regions 1:20 (excluding the Arctic and Antarctic regions) gives the total contribution from source region to the CO2 at each sample site. 1.
