Methodology
  • Specimen UMMP VP 118711 was scanned with a Scanco uCT system housed in the School of Dentistry at the University of Michigan. Scans were collected with the following settings: energy settings, 90 kV, 78 uA; scanned with 500 projections around 180 degrees; integration, 500ms; filter, 0.5mm Al; voxel size, x = 0.02 mm y = 0.02 mm z = 0.02 mm; region of interest slice dimension (in pixels), x = 519, y = 1304; number of slices, 1792 16-bit TIFF images. Original floating point grey values were scaled to span the unsigned 16-bit integer range using an offset of 3475.64 and a scale factor of 6.3019, where 16output = SCALE * (32input + OFFSET). Some areas of the volume containing other specimens have been masked with a value of 0. Additional metadata can be found in the UMMPCombinedMetadata.json file.
Description
  • Reconstructed CT slices for UMMP VP 118711 Mammuthus primigenius block number 10 (distalmost) removed from tusk as a series of TIFF images. Raw projections are not included in this dataset. The reconstructed slice data from the scan are offered here as a series of unsigned 16-bit integer TIFF images. The upper left corner of the first image (*_0000.tif) is the XYZ origin.
