Methodology
  • Overview: The Michigan Metro Area Communities Study (MIMACS) is designed to provide a reliable source for timely and relevant public opinion data in select Michigan communities by using state-of-the-art scientific methods to obtain the most representative insights available. MIMACS builds off the successful deployment of the Detroit Metro Area Communities Study (DMACS), a representative panel survey of adult residents of the city of Detroit that has regularly conducted surveys since 2016 (for more information, see  https://detroitsurvey.umich.edu).

  • Ypsilanti (including the City of Ypsilanti and Ypsilanti Township) is one of the Michigan communities included in MIMACS. The initial survey in Ypsilanti was conducted in 2022 and the sample was drawn from an address-based probability sample of all occupied Ypsilanti households. Between January 15 - March 18, 2024, we conducted our third survey in Ypsilanti. We sent survey invitations to 1,036 Ypsilanti residents who had completed at least one of the first two surveys as well as 350 invitations to a randomly selected address-based refreshment sample of Ypsilanti households. A total of 673 residents completed the survey, yielding an overall response rate of 51.3% (using AAPOR Response Rate 1); 60.2% for existing panelists and 24.9% for new panelists.

This data file contains 673 Ypsilanti residents' close-ended responses. The full dataset will be published on ICPSR.

Methodology:
Between January 15 - March 18, 2024, we invited 1,036 previously enrolled panelists and 350 invitations to a randomly selected address-based refreshment sample of Ypsilanti City and Township households to participate in a self-administered online or interviewer-administered telephone survey. A total of 673 residents completed the survey, yielding an overall response rate of 51.3% (using AAPOR Response Rate 1); 60.2% for existing panelists and 24.9% for new panelists.
