Methodology
  • Anatomical, diffusion, proton density fat fraction and magnetization transfer MRI images of murine tibia bone marrow were acquired for 6 normal animals and 15 animals with JAK2 transplant model of myelofibrosis. The imaging schedule consisted of paired test (TT)–retest (RT) scans being acquired on consecutive days for each animal starting ~28 days post bone-marrow transplant (BMT). Sequential TT–RT pairs among individual animals were spaced approximately 10 to 14 days apart, with a total of 37 scan pairs collected across 15 diseased mice over several months after transplantation (1–5 TT–RT pairs per mouse). The six wild-type (WT) non-diseased mice that did not undergo irradiation or BMT were imaged for a total of 27 scans over one month. The details of the image acquisition and processing are provided in PMC10037563.

  • The animal study protocol was approved by the Institutional Ethics Committee of University of Michigan (protocol code 00006795, approval date: 21 January 2016).
Description
  • The imaging data was used to measure repeatability and temporal trends of quantitative imaging biomarkers of myelofibrosis in bone marrow based on apparent diffusion coefficient, fat fraction and magnetization transfer ratio. The dataset consists of time series of the MRI Meta-image-header (MHD) images of wild type and diseased mice combined by the imaging time point. The MHD images are an ITK compatible format that can be viewed in standard image viewer, like 3D Slicer. Each time point image archive is structured with a directory tree that contains ./././"mouseID"/"scan-date"/"acquisition type"/

Overview:
The imaging data was used to measure repeatability and temporal trends of quantitative imaging biomarkers of myelofibrosis in bone marrow based on apparent diffusion coefficient, fat fraction and magnetization transfer ratio. The dataset consists of time series of the MRI Meta-image-header (MHD) images of "normal" wild-type and diseased (DZ) mice combined by the imaging time point (T0-T5). The MHD images are an ITK compatible format that can be viewed in standard image viewer, like 3D Slicer. Each time point image archive is structured with a directory tree that contains \flywheel\u24ca237683\MF Pre-Clinical\"mouseID"\"scan-date"\"acquisition type"\

Methodology:
Diffusion weighted (DW), proton density fat fraction (PDFF) and magnetization transfer (MT) MRI images of murine tibia bone marrow were acquired for 6 normal animals and 15 animals with JAK2 transplant model of myelofibrosis.
The imaging schedule consisted of paired test (TT)–retest (RT) scans being acquired on consecutive days for each animal starting ~28 days post bone-marrow transplant (BMT). Sequential TT–RT imaging session pairs among individual animals were spaced approximately 10 to 14 days apart, with a total of 37 scan pairs collected across 15 diseased mice over several months after transplantation (1–5 TT–RT pairs per mouse). The six wild-type (WT, normal) non-diseased mice that did not undergo irradiation or BMT were imaged for a total of 27 scans over one month. The details of the image acquisition and processing are provided in PMC10037563 at https://doi.org/10.3390%2Ftomography9020045.

Files contained here:
The multi-parametric MRI dataset for murine tibia bone marrow of 6 wild-type and 15 diseased mice is split into 7 zip-files, each containing test-retest scans for imaging time points T0-T5 of diseased (DZ) mice and single archive for "normal" wild-type animals.

All archives have a similar directory tree with MHD images stored in:
\flywheel\u24ca237683\MF Pre-Clinical\"mouseID"\"scan-date"\"acquisition technique"\. The archives were downloaded from Flywheel ("fw") database. The catalogues of the imaging data by mouse-IDs and scan-dates are provided in "MF_PreClin" CSV files. Scanned animals were deceased or normal (dz_code) and not treated (tx_code="None").

The "acquisition technique" types include "DWI" for diffusion; "FWI" for proton density fat-fraction (PDFF) and "MT" for magnetization transfer images. Each "acquisition" folder contains MHD and raw images of acquired MRI and derived quantitative parametric maps: apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) for DWI; fat fraction (FatPct) for PDFF; and magnetization transfer ratio (MTR) for MT biomarkers.
