README FILE FOR “Dogon Bankan Tey audio files“ Background: These audio files are recordings of people speaking in the Bankan Tey language, which belongs to the Dogon language family. The recordings were made in Walo village near Douentza, Mali, by Jeffrey Heath on a 90-minute cassette. They were subsequently digitized in .wav format. Each side (track A, track B) contains a number of tales and ethnographic texts. These recordings have not been transcribed or translated as of mid 2018. There is some prospect that they will be transcribed before the end of 2020. The inventory is: Wal_(Dog)_2005_1_A.wav duration: approximately 45:00 Wal_(Dog)_2005_1_B.wav duration: approximately 45:00 Jeffrey Heath gives permission to anyone to transcribe, translate, or otherwise analyse these recordings if Heath has not produced them for electronic dissemination by the end of 2020.
