README FILE FOR “Dogon Tiranige audio files“

Background:

This audio file is a recording of two people speaking the Tiranige language, which belongs to the Dogon language family. Tiranige is spoken in several villages on the Dogon (Bandiagara) plateau on or near its western cliffs, and at the base of these cliffs. The recording was made by project assistant Minkailou Djiguiba in the village of Ningo in 2017. 

The audio file has a duration of 22:22. It is in .wav format and was made with a handheld Tascan digital microphone.

Fieldwork is continuing on this language as of this writing (mid 2018), in the hope of completing a reference grammar by late 2019. The reference grammar will include a transcription and translation of this recording, as well as some other texts obtained by dictation.
