dc.description.abstractRecords related to the testing and evaluation of software for the accession, ingest, and processing of archival email; investigations conducted as part of the Bentley Historical Library's MeMail email archiving project. Software includes Adobe Acrobat, Aid4Mail, AttachmentExtractor for Thunderbird, the National Archives of Australia's Digital Preservation Software Platform, EZDetach, FITS, MessageSave, and RecMan. Functionality of the above tools included file format conversion, separation of message attachments for preservation purposes, metadata extraction, and--with RecMan--records management in Google collaborative tools.en_US
