dc.description.abstract | The Open Software Foundation's Distributed Computing Environment (DCE) is based on a remote procedure call (RPC) paradigm. This paradigm provides a convenient, simplifying method for building distributed applications, but the simplification often makes performance tuning more difficult by concealing network operations from the programmer. To help evaluate the performance of distributed applications, we modified the Interface Definition Language (IDL) compiler of DCE RPC to automatically insert performance instrumentation. | en_US |
