dc.description.abstract | Video recording [18:26] of an interview with Deb Traxinger, a member of the Women's Basketball Team at Michigan State University from 1978 to 1982 and current high school teacher. Traxinger discusses issues surrounding her participation in sports during the 1970s prior to coming to college, playing women's basketball at MSU, and how she met Jean Ledwith King, who changed her life by taking her team's case against MSU. When King made the case into a class action suit because Traxinger was the last remaining party to the suit and about to graduate, Traxinger became the class representative. Traxinger also relates how much power King's name carries, giving an example of a situation in her own high school. She states that 'Jean is my hero.' | en_US |
