In particular, it gives information on the vehicle and cargo that is not contained in the computerized data from the Fatal Accident Reporting System (FARS), The UMTRI file is a combination of telephone surveys, mail surveys, Bureau of Motor Carrier Safety (BMCS) accident reports matched with FARS cases, and supplementary data coded from police accident reports.en_US
