Abstract
Transcription of Loren Mayhew's diary from The University of Michigan’s Tour Band’s 15 week cultural exchange tour to the Soviet Union and nine Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Eastern European countries in 1961. The diary documents the experiences of Mayhew and his bandmates as they traveled to and around the Societ Union and other countries, met world leaders, and played in the concert halls of Europe as well as Carnegie Hall. Mayhew played assistant second horn during the tour and third horn during the recording session at Carnegie Hall at the end of the tour.Other Identifiers
