Background/Literature review: This section will include a summary ofliterature that involves the definitions, statistics, and history ofHAls. Furthermore, interventions conducted in hospitals to prevent HAls will be explored in detail. Historically, Staphlococcus aureus bacterium also known as Staph has been a major concern for healthcare systems. Evolving from the overuse and misuse of antibiotic S.aureus bacterium is now resistant to the methicillin medicines that are suppose to help reduce infections. Although the first case of MRS A in the United States was not until 1968, health professionals have been aware of the issue of antibiotic resistance. The potential implications of HAl for health administrators will be addressed along with defining cost-effective interventions and its importance for health administrators. An overview of literature on cost-effective interventions related to hospital-acquired MRSA infections is needed and will be discussed.
