dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this investigation is to determine what instructional leadership behaviors the Bay City School Principals are using. With an emphasis on school improvement, the Bay City Public School District has provided training for principals in effective instructional and leadership skills. Given the new training they have received, how do principals in Bay City assess themselves as instructional leaders? With the new training, principals may be performing some of the behaviors identified as those of instructional leaders. More specifically, the survey will help determine the following points: 1.) What does the group profile look like? 2.) What are the notable differences? 3.) What pattern is there in principal behavior across eleven (11) job functions, and 3 general dimensions? 4.) Which instructional management functions, practices, and behaviors do the principals engage in most frequently; less often? This study is not designed to measure the effect of the superintendent's program for school improvement. No preintervention measures of principal behaviors were taken.
