dc.description.abstractThis paper examines the development of public policy involving the abandonment of railroads in the United States. It will show the changes over time in abandonment policy, the inter-governmental relations, and the outcomes from these changes. A case study of this policy is examined related to the closure of a rail line in the State of Michigan.
