Abstract

Professor Yuichiro Imanishi, the Director of the National Institute of Japanese Literature (NIJL) (March 2017), and Keiko Yokota-Carter, the Japanese Studies Librarian of the University of Michigan Library talked about the present condition of Japanese classic literature research and the development of the Union Catalogue of Early Japanese Books that the NIJL has developed with international collaboration from librarians and researchers overseas. They also talk about the needs of improving Japan's copyright law and the open data policy to globalize Japanese Studies.
