Assisted by Jesse Donner, tenor. “Text and Meaning in Liszt’s Années de Pèlerinage, Deuxième Année – Italie.” This lecture recital examined the transformation from art song to piano writing and its influence on phrasing and interpretation in Sonetto No. 104 del Petrarca. The lecture also explored the significance of thematic transformation, programmatic meaning, symbolic keys, and other traits in Après une Lecture de Dante: Fantasia quasi Sonata.
