The publication of Open Access monographs in the humanities and social sciences has exploded in the past two years. Are OA publications being found and used? What can we learn from the usage data? We’ll discuss the results of a survey and usage analysis across four university presses, revealing striking insights on reader behavior and the usage and impact of Open Access titles. We’ll also share best practices for marketing, discoverability, and usage reporting for Open Access titles, and discuss how these works can be integrated into libraries’ collection development policies and acquisition workflows. Those who advocate for OA will be bolstered, challenged, and perplexed by the findings.en_US
