At the time of this publication in 1892, Pfeiffer's bacillus (now Haemophilus influenzae) was thought to be the cause of influenza. In these papers, Dr. A. Pfuhl describes cerebrospinal fluid infection in a patient he thought had influenza; he states that the bacteria in the specimen were identical to the bacilli recently described by Richard Pfeiffer.en_US
