dc.description.abstract | Mapleseed is an MDP team that seeks to use sensors to gather higher fidelity atmospheric data. To do this, several teams were made including the micro-airplane group. The purpose of this airplane was to be released along with several other airplanes equipped with atmospheric sensors and fly around in an area to collect sensor data for a longer period of time than a passive device or a drone would be able to. Included in the design are collapsible wings that allow for smaller storage than a fixed wing aircraft. The team has designed, built, and tested a prototype and has clear direction on improvements for the future. | |
