As society urbanizes, there is an increase in the percentage of land that is impermeable. This is coupled with the increase of storm intensity due to climate change as it continues to intensify. These phenomena coupled together increases the amount of runoff that need to be dealt with by the cities. This water needed to be dealt with is often higher than the capacity of the aging infrastructure that plagues modern America. Our solution which was developed alongside community stakeholders aims to create a quick treat solution at end of pipe that can be installed and maintained easily by a wastewater treatment plant. This project is a continuation of my Innovation in Action project started in the Winter 2021 semester. The capstone component of this will be in the form of a prototyping fellowship with C-SED. We took our previously created design and made a working prototype over the course of the semester.
