The idea behind this project is to gather and analyze data within the athletic department at the University of Michigan to create “player profiles” for each member of the women’s soccer team. Each individual player profile will contain qualitative and quantitative data from various departments within athletics including: nutrition data (body composition scans), strength and conditioning data (fitness testing, max strength testing), injury prevention screening data, wellness check data (weekly survey sent out to measure sleep, fatigue, soreness, etc.), and training/game data (including metrics such as milage, total load, max speed, etc.). The result of each player profile will allow players to have more control over their own training, recovery, and performance - especially over their total time spent at the university. Their profiles will provide them season recaps, while also allowing them to dive in more granularly and access week-by-week data upon request. For staff members, these profiles will allow them to mange their players better, and have more efficient, open, and honest meetings with their players who are looking to improve their performance. As a whole, these profiles will better connect all levels of athletics staff members and players involved with the specific sports team. The long term goal of this project is to expand the idea of the player profile to all sports within Michigan Athletics, allowing the soccer profile to be a template that can be modified to meet individual sports needs.
