dc.description.abstract | This presentation was part of a 2021-2022 ICPSR Metadata & Preservation unit "Deep Dive" Webinar series for ICPSR staff. The presentation abstract: ICPSR uses the DDI-Codebook metadata standard as the basis for describing most of its social and behavioral data collections. ICPSR study-level records (i.e., what you see when you view a record in the ICPSR catalog) use DDI metadata, including to describe study methodology and analysis details. For over 15 years, data sets for many ICPSR studies have had variable-level details tagged with DDI-Codebook metadata, which enables users to examine and compare variables and questions across studies or series using the ICPSR Social Science Variables Database (SSVD). In this presentation, you will learn about the DDI-Codebook structure and content ICPSR currently supports, as well as: -What additional functionality is possible in DDI-Codebook? -How to edit and enhance ICPSR-generated DDI-Codebook files? -What tools are available for creating and/or editing XML and DDI metadata, especially variable-level descriptions? | en_US |
