dc.description.abstract | Herman Joseph, Ph.D. was animportant influence on the addiction and criminal justice fields during the latter 20th and early 21st century. For more than 50 years he worked as a social research scientist in the interrelated fields of addiction, treatment, criminal justice, street studies, homelessness, basic research and program development at the New York City Office of Probation, the Rockefeller University, and the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).
