dc.description.abstract | Each year, approximately 3,400 U.S. infants die unexpectedly during sleep due to use of unsafe sleep products, which pose risks such as falls, pinching, and asphyxiation. Despite efforts from organizations like Kids in Danger (KiD) and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), unsafe products persist. In response, we wish to explore the design space of a solution that is compact and portable for everyday relocation, and financially accessible for low income users, while adhering strictly to American Society for Testing and Materials' (ASTM) Bassinet Standard. This will ensure a safe, accessible solution for at-risk infants and their caregivers. | |
