Attending football games, other sporting events, or concerts might be stressful for attendees who don't know the lyrics to popular cheers and songs. While the entire stadium sings along, some attendees could feel excluded and awkward as they are unable to blend in with the crowd. Their experience at the event would be elevated if they were able to identify the song played, obtain corresponding lyrics, and sing along with everyone else. To address this problem, our capstone project delivers a mobile app, ScanNSing, that recognizes live music and provides corresponding lyrics in real-time. The music recognition feature not only recognizes snippets of recorded songs, but also cover performances of the songs with slight variations. After the song is identified, the corresponding lyrics would be shown on the screen. The lyrics would be displayed line-by-line, synchronously to the timestamp of the live music being played. With ScanNSing, attendees of live music events would be able to identify and sing along to the songs with just a tap on the app.
