Throughout this document I will situate my art practice within the study of semiotics, phenomenology of perception, and the philosophical implications of material art-practice. In order to articulate how images can embody the interruptions between perception and thought, I look to the fundamental interactions between paper, drawing, and comics to examine ambiguity within visual perception. Interruption and attention are embedded in drawing and comics, which alter our understanding of images in different contexts and I will provide examples throughout of how these factors inform my drawing practice (and art practice more generally).en_US
