dc.description.abstract | This study investigates the impact of retail health clinic (RHC) entry on hospital wait times between 2014 and 2018. With the increasing popularity of RHCs as an alternative to traditional healthcare settings, understanding their influence on patient flow in hospitals is crucial. This research addresses key questions about whether the introduction of RHCs alleviates congestion in emergency departments and outpatient services by offering more accessible care options. An empirical analysis was conducted utilizing a comprehensive dataset that included wait times, patient demographics, and RHC penetration rates across various regions. The findings indicate that the entry of RHCs significantly reduced wait times in hospitals, particularly in urban areas, suggesting that RHCs play a vital role in enhancing healthcare efficiency and accessibility. These results underscore the importance of integrating RHCs into healthcare systems to optimize service delivery and improve patient outcomes. | en_US |
