Electrochemical redox mechanisms in aqueous and non-aqueous media, including associated chemical reactions, structure and behaviour of intermediate species, and phenomena such as adsorption, have been elucidated for a sequence of compounds ranging from nicotinamide to NAD+. Dimerization rates of the free radicals, produced on the initial one-electron reduction, have been measured. The electrochemical behaviour has been correlated with structural, solvation, molecular orbital and other pertinent characteristics and parameters.en_US
